BUSY WEEK FOR 318 SALE SQUADRON
This week has been busy one for 318 Sale Squadron - Air Training Corps, with a member of staff teaching first aid for Region, a cadet returning from Canada and departing on a Gold Cyber course, and cadets leaving for National Drill and Ceremonial Camp. This weekend, 14 of our cadets have also attended RAF Linton on Ouse, to complete training at the Air Operations Acquaintance Centre. The AOAC is a North Region and Corps facility which provides simulator-based training in operational combat flying. The cadets began by testing their flying skills on the Tutor and Tucano, before transitioning onto the F-16 synthetic trainers, learning how to use a range of advanced controls and instruments, and getting used to the Head Up Display. They then completed stages 1 and 2 in the AOAC programme over the course of the weekend, learning and practicing operational sorties, and gaining a practical understanding of the multiple roles of the F-16. This culminated in a final challenge with multiple objectives. All the cadets advanced their knowledge and skills, and loved having access to such fantastic equipment and training. Congratulations to Cdt Dempsey ("Chaos") and Cpl Marshall ("Firebird") for the top scores of the course! Congratulations as well to newly promoted Cpl Burgess, who received his rank slides this weekend.
